Take the class to Kronborg
A historical experience you'll never forget.
A school visit to Kronborg Castle is much more than a classic excursion - it's an opportunity to step directly into Danish history. In the authentic surroundings of the old royal palace, the stories of the past become alive and present. Students can move through halls, beautiful chambers and dark casemates as they learn about everything from Renaissance royalty to war history, myths and world literature. Kronborg Castle is the ideal destination for schools, institutions and daycare centers that want an engaging and academically relevant experience outside the classroom.

Teaching
1.
One castle - many professional angles
Kronborg is particularly suitable for teaching several subjects. In history lessons, the castle can be the setting for topics such as the Renaissance, the Reformation, military strategy and the Danish-Norwegian period of great power. In Danish, students can experience the world of Hamlet and discuss how a fictional story has influenced the real-life perception of the place. In social studies and cultural studies, themes such as national identity, monarchy and the staging of power can be addressed.
The castle's status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site also provides an ideal opportunity to talk about the preservation of cultural heritage and the importance of historical monuments - both nationally and globally.

2.

Guided tours - learning at eye level
Kronborg offers specially designed tours for school classes at all levels - from kindergarten to upper secondary school. Our experienced castle hosts present the material with an eye for the target group and actively involve the students in the conversation. The presentation is both professional and engaging, and there is always room for questions, reflection and curiosity.
Classes can also visit the castle without a guide and explore at their own pace. The free Useeum app is a great tool, especially for older students who want to listen, read and immerse themselves along the way.

3.
Explore the castle and meet Holger Danske
Kronborg Castle offers experiences that captivate both young and old. Go down into the dark casemates and see the sleeping legendary hero Holger Danske. Explore the castle's long halls, the old cannons by the moat and take a trip up to the gun tower where you can enjoy the view over Øresund.

4.

UNESCO World Heritage - part of the grand narrative
Kronborg's placement on the UNESCO World Heritage List makes the visit an ideal opportunity to talk about cultural heritage and preservation - both nationally and globally. Students gain an understanding of why places like Kronborg are worth preserving for future generations.
