Exhibition: Forever & Always Kronborg

At the very tip of the headland, in the biting wind and roaring waves, there is a castle. It's Kronborg and it's been located right where the sound is narrowest for hundreds of years.

Over the years, Denmark's iconic Renaissance castle has had many and changing meanings for even more people. From being a magnificent royal palace and a powerful symbol of Danish dominance in the Sound, Kronborg later became an alluring and anchoring attraction that today brings together both world heritage and everyday excursions in one.

Today, Kronborg exists in our culture in multiple ways. In language, in art and in our shared consciousness. The castle is many things. But what is Kronborg to you? Kronborg Castle zooms in on this question in the new exhibition "Eternally Kronborg".

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: ALWAYS AND FOREVER KRONBORG

The exhibition "Kronborg Forever" focuses on the special significance of Kronborg. In the magnificent historical setting, you will meet both the castle as it has been seen over the centuries and a number of people who all have Kronborg in their hearts and whose lives and stories have at some point intertwined with the castle's.

Through a collection of paintings and objects from Danish homes, you will meet local businessman Jan Flintrup, who has let his collection of 50 Kronborg paintings form the framework for the exhibition, the shipyard worker who had the castle as a neighbor, the soldier who was born in the kitchens, the actor who had a dressing room in the casemates and the local scout who proudly wore the castle on his uniform.

Not least, you can experience the Danish artist Thomas Kluge, who both creates new history and at the same time continues the tradition of Kronborg as a motif in art with a brand new painting of the castle, which can be experienced in the exhibition for the very first time.

You can also use your imagination and fingers to create Kronborg in LEGO or your own masterpiece with pen and paper. This way, your story about Kronborg can also be included in the exhibition for a while.

You and the exhibition are in the middle of the story of Kronborg. A story that started a long time ago, will continue for a long time to come and is constantly evolving. The big question is what Kronborg is to you. In your memories. Today. And in the future.

And remember - if you're curious, you can also delve even deeper into Kronborg's long and exciting history in our other guided tours
