Where sea and history meet
From Kronborg you can experience North Zealand, Øresund and our Swedish neighbor from unique angles.
The gun tower, Kronborg's oldest tower, was once the tallest - until the Swedes came along and made it the lowest. Luckily, you can still enjoy the view of North Zealand, and on a clear day you might even catch a glimpse all the way to Copenhagen.
From the Flag Bastion you can keep an eye out for ships, scout for the neighboring country - or test your imagination and see if you can spot a giant tuna jumping into the Sound.
Finally, there's the Elsinore Graveline, part of the castle's old defenses. Back then it was meant to protect against enemies from the north, today it just gives you a fantastic view of the Øresund - with no risk of attack.
A royal look
Several places in the castle can now, as in the Renaissance, take your breath away to the overwhelming view.
From the Tower Room you can keep an eye on the traffic in the Sound. Many years ago, Danish kings could keep an eye on trade in the strait when they collected the Sound Dues.
The Queen's Gallery is where Queen Sofie had a personal and private retreat where she could withdraw from the bustle of the court and enjoy an excellent view of the ramparts and Øresund.
